This could very well be the future of the music industry... and it scares the living sh%# out of me!
The possibilities of this hologram technology seem limitless.  Imagine Disney creating some "Miley Cyrus" type of pop star, only she's just a cartoon.  Since she technically doesn't exist, she can't get caught smoking pot with Liam Hemsworth, or get pregnant at 16.  For the first time, companies like Disney can have omnipotent control over their stars creative and personal lives.

Also, just think about the financial possibilities.  These pop stars can perform multiple shows in one night, all around the world.  They just need to set up the stage, sell tickets, and hit play.  She could play both Madison Square Garden, in New York, NY, and the Staples Center, in Los Angeles, CA, in the same night.  Why?  Because she's not real.

What if this hologram technology could be brought into your own home?  Then you can have a private concert for you and your friends whenever you'd like.  The possibilities and potential to make money off of this technology seem endless.  Is this something you would pay money to go see?  What are your thoughts about this new technology?

  1. I was really hoping that this was some kind of joke when I saw that you posted it. It's ridiculous and I really hope it doesn't catch on. It's frightening to think that this could be our future. I remember watching one of those corny Disney Original Movies when I was younger called Pixel Perfect. It's about a girl who is made out of pixels and becomes a big star. I remember watching it and thinking how strange it was and now years later, here we are. In my opinion it's not progress, it's just unnecessary. The day that seeing a band or artist live and in person becomes old news will be a sad, sad day.

  2. I could not stop laughing during the video. It is so weird but such an interesting idea too. The first thing that comes to mind was the Tupac hologram performance at Coachella last year. Due to the history of Tupac, it really was incredible to see Tupac perform on stage (for those who do not know, he died in 1996). Rap music fans were astonished that a prominent rapper like Tupac can perform with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. This computer generated anime-girl-thing is just scary for the future. The concept of performing in multiple places at once is pretty cool, but I still believe going from city to city to perform is a huge part of going on tour in the music industry. Hopefully "computer generated anime-girl-thing" will not replace real artists in my lifetime.

  3. This reminds me of bands like Dethklok and The Gorillaz. Although this seems a lot stranger in my opinion. I really would not enjoy for this to happen because even though there are people making the music it takes the humanity out of music. Instead of cheering for the people who are making the music you are cheering for some preprogrammed image that is not actually doing anything
