Obesity is major problem in the
United States today. Too many children are overweight. There have been many
claims to what is the source of the problem is, but probably one of the biggest
reasons is the fast food restaurant. Too many people are eating at fast food
restaurants all the time. They have given up on home cooked meals and have just
gone straight for the fast food. It is sad how much people actually eat fast
food. Especially children have gotten in the habit of eating poorly. The
parents allow their kids to have fast food all the time. The parents do not
know how to say no because their kids beg to eat it. They see advertisements
everywhere for fast food and it makes them want to be the people in the
advertisements. Advertisements in these fast food places like McDonalds, Burger
King, KFC, Wendy's and much more negatively affect the children’s thoughts.
These fast food restaurants advertise healthy, skinny, happy people enjoying a
delicious looking burger. The advertisements fail to show the extreme effects
of eating at fast food places. Because the adolescences are young, they do
not realize these harmful effects. So what steps do we as a society take to
help make these children more aware of what advertising really does to one’s
subconscious? Some think they should hide their kids from all advertisements.
But is that even possible? I think not, there are advertisements everywhere and
it is impossible to hide them from kids, unless you would lock them in a small
dark room. But that would be inhumane and illegal. I think the fast food industry
should change up their advertisements or there should be advertisements to warn
children of the negative affects of fast food. This Link will lead to the
article that helped inspire me to make this blog post.
I agree that this is a very prominent problem in society today. Inaccurate advertisements of this disgusting food flood the media, making the food look delicious. And, what has an even more harmful effect, is that the fast food companies make the food look healthy, when, in fact, it is just the opposite-- deep-fried in lard.
ReplyDeleteParents must provide healthy alternatives to fast food and tell their kids "no" if they want it too often. A Burger King Whopper every so often is not terrible, but, somehow, parents must enforce the rule, "everything in moderation." It is that simple.
I find this blog to be correct. I can say that I personal have caught myself falling for this commercials, on T.V. we see the food look all "juicy" and attractive to the eye, with the right person eating it. In the commercial they look all happy, perfect body enjoying the perfect burger. Until reality kicks in and you go out to buy what you seen on T.V. and get the total opposite of what you actually saw.
ReplyDeleteI think if companies were to truly advertise their products no editing, and actual people that eat their food in the commercial sells will drop drastically. Unfortunately in today's society people would rather be told a lie to convince them then to actually be told the truth.
This whole parent situation also, I think parents could and should be more stern on their children. As a kid i was always attracted to the fast food commercials because of the kids and toys they showed. At times when I would ask my mom to buy it she would and other times she won't I use to get mad but now that i'm older i've learned to appreciate it because I don't eat fast food often.
