I was just going to post the video of the commercial, but then I found a very thoughtful article on it, calling this the "commercial of the decade" which is pretty high praise.

My absolute favorite Nick Drake song is most definitely "One Of These Things First," which is featured on the Garden State soundtrack.
ReplyDeleteCoinciding with VW's method of portraying a story through a song, the movie (Garden State) also uses music to send a strong message to the audience at times where dialogue is superfluous.
Music is a brilliant way to send across a message, because it is so complex, yet it's so intriguing. Therefore, it's understandable that the VW ad had great success.
